Job Overview:

As a Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records for our company. You will verify, allocate, and post details of financial transactions to our accounting system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. You will also handle sales and purchase ledgers, control credit, manage stock transfers, capture bank transactions, and prepare management reports and budgets.

In this position, you will work closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and provide support in the administration of accounts payable and receivable, VAT submissions, and statutory payments. The role requires a strong understanding of bookkeeping practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in financial matters.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review monthly expenditures and compile management reports for submission to the CFO.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements, invoices, and payments, addressing any anomalies.
  • Process sales invoices, file dispatches, receipts, and delivery note

  • Perform weekly bank reconciliations and prepare Aged Payables for Sales Meetings.

  • Review monthly creditor and debtor ageing lists, addressing any long-standing issues.
  • Capture and record all financial transactions in appropriate accounts.
  • Prepare and compile VAT reports for submission to auditors.

  • Assist with both internal and external annual audits.

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory records and perform monthly stock checks.

  • Maintain customer confidence by safeguarding confidential financial information.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Xero Accounting System.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field.
  • In-depth understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping practices

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and scheduling skills.
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
